is the shift shaft in a 69 bug ment to have a small bent or is it ment to be straight.

It's supposed to be straight.

do u mean the long rod that connects the tranny to the gearstick?

It is meant to be bent so it can fit around the crap in the tunnel.

that is how it came from the factory. If you think about it, there isnt enough force in shifting gears with a 10mm stud to bend something thats about 20mm in diameter and pretty thick.
