Has anyone ever taken a roof from a ragtop and fitted it into a non sunroof bug of same year . It's not for my 67 but another project 67 i'm getting started. As my bug is all original , 1 owner and unmolested apart from a few reversable mods i'm going to have a long term project to play with and keep mine as is.

I have experience in fitting sunroofs , have the proper tools to do it at work and would like to attempt it.

Need to find a 67 ragtop thats been wrecked or rusted out first which i know will mission in itself. I'm thinking the trim isn't that important as it can be recovered but aslong as the frame and any mecanical/moving parts are okay. I want the whole roof from pillar to pillar.

I'm thinking i can easily strip out the roof ( he says!)and use the hole left as my template and for measurements.

Any pointers?

She bought a Golde roof clip off Dave Becker and is/has grafting it into Bel

If I can graft a Toyota Tarago sunroof into a stretched limo, then that should be a breeze for any panel beater or handyman with some patience.

The thickness and curve of the Beetle roof should make it pretty straightforward

You will have a hard time finding a 67 model ragtop roof clip, because I think the ragtops stopped in 64, I could be wrong and I am sure someone will be sure to tell me if I am.

Its best to deskin the ragtop along the sides of the windscreens, front and back and unfold the seam at the top on the sides, then you can graft it on and noone will ever be able to tell.

Its not a difficult job but it does take some finnese not to destroy the car in the process.
