Type 3 motor into Superbug

Hi guys and girls,
Just a question, is it possible to fit a type 3 engine with type 1 tinware into a Super? The engine comes from 71 Notchback to fit 72 Super. Are they
the same long block with out the tinware? Any comment much appreciated.
Thanx,
Nino

i've got an engine from a '70 fasty in my '68 bug and other than the tinware all that had to change was the oil cooler location and we had to tap a
new place for the dipstick

What about the fan on the end of the crankshaft??
So You will need a Generator or alternator with fan etc for the beetle... Is a type 3 generator the same as a type 1 ??

So basically it's possible? I have the fully running type 1 engine complete with the generator and the blower, everything. So I can remove the whole
thing from the top of my type 1 engine and fit them on the type 3. I just want to know if it's worth the effort to do that. FYI: the type 1 is 1600
standard engine and type 3 is 1641 with mild cam and twin 40 Dell, that is why I am eager to fit that engine into my Super.

No problem. Just remove all tinware (just remove everything back to a long block!!!!), remove front fan/pulley, remove oil cooler, and purchase a
dipstick conversion tube (bolts onto the same place as the type 3 dipstick tube) and then replace with all the T1 tin, cooler, generator, pulley etc. You
will then need to modify linkages etc for the carbies,,and get some larger airfilters (optional).
