Does anyone know of an interchangeability list for VW's ie parts that can be used on different types.

eg Can type one ball joints or tie rod ends be used on a type3.

If there isn't, does anyone know from experience what can be interchanged this would be a usefull tool if we could get it.

I dont think there is such a listing or at least i have not seen one.

If you read the old hard copy parts listings or the Microfish cards, VW always use the 9 digit numbering system.

They always list the origional part number that the car was designed for.

111 for Beetle 211 for Kombi and 311 for Type 3 so if a Beetle part is use in a Type 3 say the rear axle bearing on swing axle gearbox its mark 111 in the type 3 parts book.
