Do I need a heater hooked up to pass roadworthy. Will a blower do? eg: Kombi blower
Brendan
depends on who u go to...check the other thread about passing roadworthy
That thread got me thinking. I've heard that all you need is a air blower.
Depending on the answer it will make a big difference in the work I need to do to get the Blue Slip.
Heater means fabricate shrouds around external oil cooler and blow past with a blower mounted under seat.
Blower means mount the thing temporarily in the front boot and plumb it up.

well my baja (though it hasnt been through the test yet....im buying it atm) it doesnt have heaters cause of the custom twin exhaust and the road worthy guy doesnt appear to care
Hi
Im not sure about heat but Im using a fan under the back seat to blow air through the heater channels.

I welded in Brazilian heater channels during the resto so I have no heater tubes to blow through at the moment. I'm going to drag electrical
corrugated 40mm conduit through them in the future and also do the external oil cooler heater buildup at the same time. I'm trying to save a lot of
work before the roadworthy.

Hi
See about heat with the engineer, if no heat what about getting some dash fans from a Kombi and mounting them under the car where the heater hoses go
in. Im not sure about the diffence with brazillian heater channels, are they hairless?

Steve,
That's good advice. I have to get engineers certificate for the struts, seats, seatbelts, brakes so a phonecall is the go.
Also I did do a "Brazilian Wax" on the channels. I think it was a south american brand fish oil that I used.

you only need cold air to demist anyway... I don't see why you would need heat??
I don't know about regulations, just going by what I've been told... I needed 'hot air on the windscreen' I think he said (I'm in Vic)...
...which meant I had the heater levers fixed, as that was supposed to make it work again. I didn't do the job, the dealer had to have it done
pre-sale, but the levers still can't be budged (and the plastic lever bits are all cracked at the bottom, so whenever someone tried to move one, they
come off, haha!). In any case, I disconnected the levers and tied the heater flaps open: viola, warm air, and I live in Melbourne anyway, so no
stress. Driving through northern SA during summer with the heater on was fun though!

When I bought my kombi it had just got a Vic RWC and the heater did not work at all b/c the cables had seized. No problems passing the RWC on this score, though plenty of other probs, mind you!
