Badior - April 25th, 2004 at 08:31 PM

hi
im looking at making some wheel adapters to go from kombi/ ford pattern to wide five pattern. just wondering if anyone has done this and still has the radius and PCD of the two different patterns or some drawings. And could someone please tell me how to hook a taco up, and can an electronic speedo be fiited to a a VW, if so how?
cheers

Man what are you trying to do ? and who would want to go from 112 PCD to 225 PCD both x 5 ??

I can get them for you at about $40 ea made from 12 mm plate.

what does having a kombi box do to your stud pattern ??

Badior - April 25th, 2004 at 09:24 PM

it used to be a swing axle box, i dont have a set of hubs to fit that are wide 5.

so how do you get Kombi 5 then ? It is pretty hard to get them on a beetle

Badior - April 25th, 2004 at 09:37 PM

it has a the whole back end out of a 2lt kombi welded into it. so there fore it has the kombi wheel pattern. and all my wheels have the wide 5 pattern.

ah ok now I understand. Maybe you can just ues Split Kombi drums they are wide 5 and may go straight onto teh acles..

badoir.

wide five from fuzzy memory is 205mm pcd, i got some inch spacers/ajusters drilled/litnend $40 each incl fastners & new studs (i doint think they'll do it again for that price)..., tacho sender usually goes to coil for a firing signal. other tacho wires are either pos or neg to run the thing. got a mountain bike speedo on bug. liquid nails to hold magent & sender and extended wiring. much more resilient on the vw than on the dirtbike.

mmm 205 does sound better... now I am all confussed :bounce

Badior - April 26th, 2004 at 08:43 AM

ok thanks for that

Badior - April 26th, 2004 at 11:13 AM

so its 112PCD and 205 or 225 PCD?

helterskelter400 - April 26th, 2004 at 11:46 AM

my beeetle wide five = 205mm pcd

btw. i remeber there being a formula on here somewhere for working out pcd by measuring the distance between two adjoining stud centres for odd studd wheels.

Hey brad can you get wheel adapters to go from say, 4stud vw to holden or ford stud pattern? and also are they legal for road use in queensland?

68AutoBug - April 27th, 2004 at 07:52 PM

I believe wheel adaptors aren't legal in Australia...
They used to be legal in South Australia in the 60s & 70s!!
and You could buy them there...
I see they are still sold in the UK.... for on road use....
its a bit silly if its OK to use them in one country & Not another....
it looks like You can just about get anything registered in the UK... Cars that look like boats... with mud guards,

Cars with no body just a chassis with mud guards...
Maybe no engineers over there!!!
