Silly Q but can you have mismatched P&Cs?

I know its a silly Q but can you have mismatched P&Cs on the same engine? I mean can you have 94s for cylinders 1 & 3 while 90.5s for cylinders 2 & 4?

Yes, that's a very silly question...

Why would you go to that trouble and expense to produce an engine that ran poorly and had a very short life?

Yes you can mismatch them.

theres a lot of machining involved to mis match 90s and 94s.

It would be easier with 1300 and 1600 P & C sets.

If thats whats you really want to do. but why??

I am not looking into doing it. I was testing my dual DRLAs linkage on the stuffed 1835 case I have so I stuck the new 90.5 P&Cs on it. I noticed that the P&Cs in 1&3 were a bit loose while the ones in 2&4 were tight hence my question.

I have seen it done on a 1600 twin port that was converted to a compressor. It used 1 and 3 connected to the carburettor to make it run as a flat twin and used 2 and 4 to compress the air. This motor had standard pistons and cylinders on 1 and 3 and 90.5 on 2 and 4 to up the air out put.
Had a special cam and aluminium blocks on 2 and 4 pistons.

Very trick and ran well. Balance wasn't an issue as the pistons were same side to side and it ran a governer to keep the revs down.

I wouldnt recomend useing only one on one side.
