what is the best case to use ?
seagull - May 2nd, 2004 at 12:12 AM

I have a case starting with a F my book tells me this is a very good case ,is there others ??:alien

The F case is a 1300 case i think. The best case for a type 1 build is a late dual relief case. They are the ones with 8mm head studs with factory case savers, 8mm studs for the oil pump and other studs. They have larger oil passages.

i rekon if you are gunna chuck a heap of money at go fast bits do yourself a favour and get a new case with all the mods already done at least you dont have to worry about that bit of it,,, old cases are stuffed,,, even if you dont contemplate a hotty it is still worth the investment as it will last not like flogged out old line bored cases.

Yeah i second that. a new AS41 Dual Relief case is the best choice. It is made out of an alloy with higher aluminuim content than the older cases.

Unless its only a cheap throw together, the price of new cases these days is pretty affordable because of the AUD. A good used virgin case wouldn't be that much cheaper anyway. Dont support a few thousand worth of parts on an old case.

depends if you buy here or if you ship in yourself.
They retail here for about $1000......I think !

A lot cheaper if you bring in yourself.

yeah, I secon dthe 'new case with thousands of dollar engine' theory. I have had three cases in 10 years - never again. My new 1916 will be built on a new alloy case - I'll probably have it forever

Che Castro - May 4th, 2004 at 09:16 AM

the alloy cases are about the same price as AS41's on www.aircooled.net actually they're cheaper if you dont get them with warranty . $300 USD
