all the bits and bobs while i'm at it

NO not really. You need to have an IRS floorpan to fit a Kombi gearbox. The 1500 beetle does not have this type of floorpan................Sorry.
Unless you replace with an IRS pan ????
oh well - just a thought as there's one going cheap in the buying and selling forum - I LIKE double clutching anyway!

according to my documents, and the site info my chassis number is for a 69, so should be IRS
i'll find out when I take it apart I spose!
nah in australia cv's were later.
technically all beetles have irs, what you are referring to are cv's.
my 69 and 70 beetles both have swingarm.
look underneath, if you see two thick (about 'v' soft drink can thickness) black tubes heading out to the wheels then you have swingarm, if you see
thin ones then you have cv's.
yep, sure enuff, big thick black tubes - no kombi gearbox for me then!
