Just want to ask will the original headlight unit have the correct space for a Halogen Globe, the ones that will provide White lights (Xenon) or what
are the options ? Do I have to get special halogen globes to fit ?
Thanks!
Yeah, grab a bulb and head down to your local auto store, they'll find an equivalent. But check your wiring and earthing before you fit 'em, also you might want a heavier gauge wire and the silver may peel off the reflectors, especially if they are the more recent non-german ones.
The Best Bulbs are Narva PLUS 50...
They are 50% brighter than the standard Quartz Halogen Bulb... $30 a pair at Auto One.. that is for the standard H4 Bulb which is very common
these days...
The VW Bulbs have a different round base instead of the 3 legs.
I think they have the P43? base?? Someone told Me there is an adaptor in the US to use the standard H4 bulbs...
If You stick to the normal wattage 55/60w.. You shouldn't need any extra heavier wires.... the wiring on late model Japanese cars is VERY light,
much lighter than VWs...

So actually there are Halogen Xenon bulbs that will fit ? or I need a special Adaptor ? Cause I checked and there are lots of Halogen Bulb Sizes, and
not sure if they have the Round Base Style, I think I'll just grab a bulb and ask
Cheers~!
Thanks 70AutoStik & Lee !
The P43t is the standard 3 leg Headlamp base... VW uses the other one.. cannot remember what number it is..
Maybe P45t?? they go straight in.. I have 4 headlamps here with them installed ... no numbers on them...
the Narva PlUS 50 bulbs are 50% brighter on Low beam & 30% brighter on High beam, but still the normal 55/60w 12v... they ARE a very bright white
light... made in Germany..
they use a Xenon filler gas and a special coating to increase the lumen output of a converntional Quartz Halogen Bulb..
I had those blue quartz halogen bulbs in for a while.. look good but hopeless as a headlamp bulb.. OK for daytime use!!
