I have a set of twin 36mm webers which I am about to sell as I need some 40s or 44s . It has a set of CB? washable filters on alloy bases which are
incorporated with the hexbar linkage. Can I keep the filters and linkage? will they suit 40s? what about the manifolds? are they interchangeable
(doubtful)
Thanks Gurus Mitchell
All interchangeable Mitch
36 - 40 and 44's are all the same bases.
You only need to change the carbs themselves.

What are you buildin Mitchell?
I have a set of 90.5 p and b with matching 040 heads, as well as 1.4:1 ratio rockerscso probably a 1776 unless i stroke and I know that that is
limited also as I have 'a' pistons or 'b" but standards anyhow not stroked.
I am still not sure what i will end up with just the best i can manage I spose my buget is limited . I do know that even if its a standard crank and
it ends up as a 1776 that the 36 mm webers will not be big enough.

36'S should be fine on a 1776,check your choke sizes PS i would consider 44'S to big on that size motor.
having run 36's on both 1600 and 1776 and hearing that 36's "should" be ok on a 1776 i say that they are not.
I always had troubles with the 1776 but were smooth as on the 1600.
I was running 32 vents and all sorts of jets.
By the dyno it was perfect.
NEXt time i will run 40's
barry glad to hear that you are contemplating 'next time
Mitchell
I ran 36's (with 32 chokes) on my 1776 for a couple of years. Worked a treat. Good mileage and smooth.
Isn't it really the valve sizes that dictate the choke size, therefor carbs that you need to run.
That's my understanding, but I am willing to learn.

Cant help myself Mitch
To bloody stoopid for my own good.
What would be the largest you could go using the 40's?
When it comes rebuild time for me I was thinking of going to a 2110. I know there's lots of variables but would they work on anything larger than
this?
