fitting a 3" air filter to a 50mm carb how too
seagull - May 24th, 2004 at 10:53 PM

These are the hose pipes I have in stock for the single carbs
they are 3" = 75mm on the air cleaner side and 2 " = 50mm on the carb

the air cleaner is a no name brand that works just fine .:alien

so what do they fit on? and what is needed to make them fit? performance boost? what is the advantage?

seagull - May 24th, 2004 at 11:25 PM

they would add around 8 - 10 hp to your motor at night they make a big differance ,suck heaps of air ! sound good !
you need a bracket to suport the hose at one end * it has a wall thickness of 8mm .I have the stainless steel tube that goes in the air cleaner and slides in the hose ,you would need a hose clamp to fit the carb end & one for the air cleaner end * most of the air cleaners of this type have a clamp supplyed .

I have one on my jeep * foam one *I all so noted the fuel savings on a long run
I have never replaced the air cleaner in 5 years on my buggy i just place a stocking over the air cleaner and remove when finished the beach work it saves getting the fine sand out !
The air cleaner on my jeep was $78.00 !
This air cleaner is the type that supper cheap would have I think Photo *

I will dyno mine in the shed and let you know Lugnuts what is does .
It has made a big differace on the 1600 twin port in my mates buggy

We fitted one to my mates race car with the V8 toyota at the same time the headers were fitted at the dyno it had 24 kw more.
