G'day all,,
Anyone good at setting up handbrakes? for a Kombi?
I have just replaced wheel cylinders for back drums (composite) and having trouble with the handbrake,
Is there just one point of adjustment ? (two 10mm square nuts on each cable) because I have tried tightening up these two and the handbrake still
won't hold. Also found one side tends to hold better than the other,,
Any ideas?
ps, handbrake has never worked to well (barely passed rego)..
thanks all,,
Dave

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you lift the back wheels off the ground. On the inside are holes and inside are star wheels which while spinning the wheel you turn these with a screwdriver one way, until the pads only just touch in places, then pull the hand brake on three cliks and tighten up ten mil nuts.
if all else fails carry a housebrick at all times? park with wheels turned into gutter, and pray to the god of gears for a firm hold
Hi
To do the right way the hand brake cables need to be backed right off, the rear brakes adjusted correctly, then you can adjust the cables so that both
wheels lock at the same time.
