Front Headlights

I am currently in the process of restoring my '74 beetle and need to replace the front two headlight as they are cracked and will not pass a road safety certificate. Does anyone know of a place to buy relatively cheap replacements in the Brisbane city area. :beer

get mk 1 golf ones. I think volks and volvo centre have ones that take the standard H4 bulbs (eg what everything else on the road runs)

There are 2 tabs at the top of the bucket that are bent back, so heat them (stops them from fracturing) then bend then down and use some screws or bolts to hold the headlight in. You will then have to get just a plain chrome ring (either remove not needed stuff from the old ones or I think a bays rings may work if tunred 90 degrees)

Is that right ? you can get Mk1 golf headlights that have replaceable globes, that will fit on late model beetle guards ?

That would be FANTASTIC !!!!!

I've been working 12 hour days the last month, and I drive to work in the dark, and come home in the dark, and it has really shown the deficiencies in using 30year old sealed beam headlights. I'd love to stick some units in with modern 55/110W globes. It would make all the difference.
