seeking words of wisdom?
Have sourced a1972 Beetle steering column and wish to install in 1967 Beetle, Thought it might be better to have a collapsible column instead of the solid one.
Installation instructions required and do I need the 72 Bug steering box or will the 67 steering Box be o.k.

I cannot remember whether My Son used the late collapsable steering column in His 56 Oval many years ago..
I'll have to ask him... I wouldn't drive a VW without the collapsable steering column.. My Son used a 1968 semi auto chassis with IRS rear end and the late steering box..
I know I advised him to use the late steering column...
There Must be some aussie vee dubbers who have done this modification...

As far as I know it'll bolt in with no worries.

It's the top mounting that will have to be done right. The later ones would have a diferent mounting bracket with possibly shear-head bolts, which you can remove by putting a hacksaw cut in the head to make them into a flathead screw that a standard screwdriver will work on.

I used a Volvo column in my Buggy with the VW flexible coupling yoke welded to the severed Volvo bottom half (which retained the universal) and the VW spline section welded to the modified top of the shaft. This was approved by an Engineer and the senior inspectors of the Transport Dept. I had to show them how substantial the top mounting was though, because that's what stops the top from moving and makes the rest of it colapse safely.
