does any one have pics of dash panels i could use i need some inspiration creating my own with gauge holes. I love being able 2 make stuff out of sheetmetal and having a dub the combination is a perfect mix
haven't got pics... but how many gauges do you want to put in the dash?? i am making some for my 65 beetle at the moment... will have tacho (85mm), fuel gauge (52mm) and possibly oil temperature(52mm) on rhs and oil pressure(52mm), oil temp(if i cant put in rhs) on lhs of dash... then have to put in the warning lights for alt, oil press, and turn signals.
Im thinking 4 2inch and a 5inch tach either with 2 in the left bit the tach next to the speedo then 2 more on the right or a single panel and cut out the holes in the dash to make it look cleaner but then it cant be made stock again. oh well either way i dont really care, just need to know what it looks like and if there are better ways of doing it. Oh yeah its a 71 super if that helps anyone
guess it depends on what type of gauges you wanna put in... as the ones i was looking at were 52mm and 85mm holes... so the chrome rings would be larger and this would probably make the two 52mm gauges on the rhs impossible to fit in next to the 85mm tacho... then there is also the problem that the original speedo is bigger than the 85mm hole that the new speedo requires... so i will have to make up a plate for that also. I have roughed out some plates just to do a test run and will post the pics soon if you want to see them... all i have to do is cut out the holes.
Thanks 4 that looking forward to the pics

hi
There Stewart Warner guages. With wiring its not to bad, I ran a single wire for earth, power & lighting and then just a sender wire for each
guage.
Belwo is Leighs dash, he put a monster tach where the speedo was and a VDO speedo and other guages in the panels.

I did the usual thing, 2 aluminium plates and have cut the holes in them, added the gauges but I forgot to drill the holes in the dash... another
small problem.. then I padded the plates with black vinyl... not too bad...
after looking at those pics... I should have made up ONE Plate to go from one side to the other.... would have been easier... cutting the holes with a
jigsaw in the small piece of aluminium was terrible.... jammed fingers etc....
I should have pics sometime next week....
I have all VDO gauges plus Tachometer....

forget the gauges who needs them
I don't like the plain dash Dave...
it should have the stereo plus gauges everywhere...
Plenty of room for fresh air vents...
room for everything......
