POR 15
fatboy - December 17th, 2002 at 03:07 PM

Hi guys.

I was recomended to paint my floor with POR 15 well the floor of my vw.
however Ive just been to repco autobahn and supercheap, none of them have ever heard of it .
Is this a stripey paint thing or does POR 15 really exist ?

Also I've just noticed that my fuel guage has an R (reserve?) instead of an E does this mean that somewhere there is a hidden tap ala motorbike to get a few more K's?

:D

To enhance the point I made earlier ...I have no idea who WDS are, or where they are.
I was hoping I could find some in Melbourne as I should imagine postage would be expensive

OK so you know Vintage Vee Dub Supplies are in Campsie Sydney 02 9789 1777

I know Mick (our sponsor) in Brisbane has VERY reasonable shipping rates.
Maybe send him an email and ask what shipping is or if he knows of a Melbourne contact

Hi fatboy,

POR 15 certainly does exist. Go to http://www.ppc.au.com  and you can order over the net.

I have bought quite a bit of stuff from them. The Rust preventative paint and chassis coat is very good. Marine clean is excellent cleaner and there PC Glisten works really well on chrome things. I have tried there heat paint on VW exhausts and it does not work that well.
There stuff is not cheap but for the most works really well - in my opinion :).

Hope this helps.

Mark.

Well, POR 15, is used the World over on VW chassis and under fenders & wings .
I don't know where to buy it in Australia.... I DO know It IS available in Australia.... try a search on the net....
It IS EXPENSIVE.... But then the BEST is always MORE expensive than the rest..
WDS= Vintage Vee Dub Supplies.
MM = Mick Motors in Qld
Mr Bug in Vic.. E mail someone who lives in Melbourne for info..... The Largest of Industrial Suppliers would have POR 15...
I use FISH OIL.... Inexpensive.... and easy to use..... I've used about 4 litres so far in My beetle.... It will NEVER Rust.... I have been using FISH OIL since 1970... You can get pressure pak cans or bulk cans.. It takes a few days to dry in the heat... a long time in the winter... don't let it get wet before it dries... and it does smell for a few weeks... You can now get Deoderised fish oil which doesn't smell as bad as it used to.... You would probably be better off using POR 15 under the chassis.... I'm just spraying under mine with fish oil....
Good Luck

When Your Fuel Gauge gets to R... You have an Imperial Gallon to get You to the next service station.... or around 30-40+ kms..... These days cars have a light that comes on..... VW invented the idea...:D

Note that lugnuts gave the correct address:
w w w.ppc.au.com
If you go com.au you end up at some identity card/plastic ID place.
