splitty seats info

.......the old "put the bay seats in a splitty" thingo...who has realy done it and how much mods has to be done...don't answer if you havn't done it please(as in "have no idea).
have talked to a few people and half yes...yarda yarda yarda.
early bays look the same size, in pics that is.

Bay seats will bolt straight in - although they are actually
not as wide as a splt seat and you end up with a bit more
gap at the ends...

The later bay rearmost seat (73+ not sure year of change) has a changed middle leg that interferes with
the heater log in a split so that's something to watch out for.

But covered with a more appropriate vinly etc they look OK.
Lack of grab handles still a giveaway to those in the know
(Birchall would deduct point for this). Assume it would be
fairly easy to add the handles if you could find some but
haven't done it.

thanks Rob for that...so I should just hunt down(car-jack or what ever you want to call it) 68-72 bay?
PS:sorry I wouldn't car-jack a VW....bad Karma :P
