There is a trick to it - Don't lower the rear of your Kombi by so much !
Adjust it back up a little.
Hey Rhys, man no wonder you can' t get your tyres under van!! That's too low mate.
hey damien
umm well its not that low
does anyone know what tyre size i should go to?
cheers

take note of Phil, if you can't get a 195/75 in there you have big problems, that tyre size won't fix, even if you can cram 185/55s in there it would be so lowgeared you would never have to use 1st & 2nd gear, did you count how many splines you moved it?, far better to spend the time & raise it a bit then spend money on tyres or bashing out the wheel arches just to find you still have problems, I think..
Rhys, where does it rub? If it is rubbing on the tread face of the tyre, then you really need to lift it a bit. You also need to allow room for travel
(when you hit a bump).
If it is rubbing on the side of the tyre where it bulges, then you may in fact get away with narrower tyres. Avoid getting low profiles though, they
cost more and lower your cruise speed, as kim said.
You may get away with 185/R's or 185/75's, or maybe 175's even, but don't change the profile. Stock size for my 75 kombi is
185R/14, if that's any help. I've run 185R-14's, 195R-14's, 205/65-15's and now 205/60-15's on my kombi, and the size
difference is quite noticable.
hey
yer thats what the tyre guy said when i rang him!
i have made it abit higher and have to push the tyre up into the wheel arch.
cheers

rhys are you just adjusting the outer spring plate ? you need to also adjust the other end of the torque tube in combination(opposite directions), this will give you finer adjustment, look in the book
i can separate the spring plate from the torsion bar so it is only adjusted from the whole thing as one unit and using the inner splines!

p.s. i got it at a hieght where i can just squeeze the tyres under!
