is there any reason why a 34pict carb wouldnt work with a 009 dissy
Anthiron - July 5th, 2004 at 12:30 PM

?? i remember something ages ago i heard that they didnt match well.......i want to rebuild the carb in my super bug to replace the 30 pict on my baja which has a 009....OR. i could put the vacuum advance stock dissy from the superbug on the 1600 single port in my baja which already has a nice big flat spot from the 009. i dont know what condition the dissy in the super is in but the motor runs.....though it hasnt been run in a few months. how hard is it to swap dissys?.......the 34pict will fit right on with no dramas wont it?......would this eliminate flat spot?

the flat spot is in the carb not the dizzy change the carb to a 30 pict and it will go better

the baja has a 009 and a 30 pict right now

well dont go to a 34 pict cause they are renound for flat spots its in the design of them go some thing like a twin barrel webber or a set of kadrons. but not a 34 pict its like steping down a size. get a tune and see how you go.

okie dokie ....the idea was that i already had the carbie so i wouldnt have to pay for one cause i dont have the money. what if i used the vacuum dissy off the super bug?

shouldnt cause a problem cause most of the 72 sbugs had this problem i fixed mine by changing the carb but that was my idea the 30 pict should actually run better due to higher intake velocities but i havent had this problem and id fix it by getting a tune or carb rebuild. ive got to talk to my old man later so ill ask him hes a vw mechanic

Stay with the 009 and get another carb.
It would be the carb that is giving you the probs not the dizzy

i have a rebuild kit here now for a 28-34 pict carb so i cna either rebuild the 30 pict or the 34 pict. i think i will rebuild the 30pict after your insight thanks mate.....i love this forum.......never rebuilt a carbie before this could be interesting:P:bounce

What usually happens is that people tune their carb to compensate for the dying dizzy. When they fit the 009 (after the dizzy dies) as a replacement, it then shows up the poorly tuned carbie !!!!

A factory item will always be best for a stockie, but the 009 should work fine with a standard carb.

I thought a 34 pict had a wider bolt pattern onto the manifold ?? so I don't think this will fit your 30pict/single port manifold.................I think !

ok thanks craig......well im going to rebuild the 30 pict.........so i should just adjust mixture and do a full tune after i rebuild it to try and get rid of the flat spot?
