URGENT HELP - Installing disc pads
AWOL - July 17th, 2004 at 11:43 AM

hello

Have new disc pads ready to install... for my 96 Golf ... do I need to remove the calipers completely or should the pads just clip out?

Thx, Chris

Even on Beetles they just come out after removing one or two pins in the calipers.....

So there is something holding them in...
Split Pin or something...... I can't remember what held the pads in a Magna a had....

Before pulling the old Pads off... put something flat like a large flat screwdriver or a flat pry bar etc... between the old Pads and push the pads apart so the new ones which are Much thicker will fit in the space......
[You have to push the brake pistons back in]

You need to undo one end of the caliper and swing it up so as to allow the pads to be pulled out.

Before you remove the pads get a long screw driver and lever the pads back to ush the pistons back int othe caliper housings.
