Padded Dash Revival

Evening all

I've got a padded dash in my '74 beetle which is quite scruffy. It has some cracks and things in it. Does anyone know what would be a good substance to use to fill the cracks? I was thinking of just sticking some filler in but then I realised that would be rock solid when it set.

silicone the clear one. then a dash mat maybey to cover it ??
