just try the alum shoops, sellers. We have a few places just sell aluminum sheet, pipe, around brissy.
a quick yellow pages search http://www.yellowpages.com.au/search/performSearch.do?headingCode=14877&l...
got to the alloy placeat rockdale but there must be one closer to you.
smithfeild lol closest in the book...... the local place doesnt stock AL tube ... guna do some more ringing tomorrow and possibly go for a drive hehe
What do you want alloy tube for ???? the inlet mainfolds ???
Nah, for the velocity stacks i am going to fab up, will just make the inlet from steel, not guna waste time and $$ with alloy for manifolds, i cant weld alloy..... meanwhile, would you be interested in a set of stacks, once i work otu the correct length and such ill have HEAPS of tube left over.... i thnik ill have to buy it in 3m lengths ..... but will ring around to some shops tomorrow i have the day off.....
you can try metaland I think there is a branch at Ingelburn or O'Brians aluminium at Smithfield or the hardware store that sells hardware minto hardware if you are after a small amount less them 2 feet (2inch OD and 1/16 th wall thickness) then I have a bit here you can have for free you just have to come and get it.
u have u2u
knock some accessories off of the local ricers car and make your own matey!!
Tube is always measured by the outside diameter, so 50mm alloy tube will be smaller on the ID than you wanted. I have plenty of 50mm tube if you want some, it's 1.6mm wall thickness I think.
just picked sum up from Pete (Ph billet) thanks mate, and tell your wife i didnt meen to be rude hehe i didnt want to hold her up she was on her way
out :P
thanks for the offer pete
cheers

the carb...... epoxied together.... ah the possibilities, thanks guys, and Ph Billet..... thanks heaps man but if you find the larger tube at work id
be keen to grab it aswell....
thanks

sorry I looked today but nothing .
no probs, thanks anyways man, that shit after i annealed it .... was sweet hammered it out into the flange and vwala velocity stack
How did you anneal it ? Can you do small sections with a gas torch? Or use the wife's gas oven ? About what temperature, celcius ? Was it 6061 or another grade ? Thanks.
youll have to ask the above ^ people what grade it is, i simply heated it untill it the flame was red when it JUST passed over the peices end, then
let it slowly cool, i wasnt surte on the grade of alloy and i didnt know it of was a heat treatable alloy so i didnt quench it incase it made it
brittle, i worked it while still warm wearin thick leather gloves......used a propane torch, but if i was to anneal with oxy acet then the process is
a little different.
Take an acetelene flame and pass it over the peice to build up a decent layer of soot, then take a normal blue flame and burn off the soot, becareful,
aluminium melts at about 1200C and the oxy burns at 800C (but that could be farenheit i cant remember) hope that helps.......
ad for the wifes oven..... im 17 .... id have to use mums, and that is more dangerous hehe
