Can anybody help me adjust the headlights on my 71 beetle so that they don't shine on the possums in the trees?

there are 2 flat head screws on the surround these move the light. the best way is to park about a meter away from a wall and adjust the beam till it is about knee height on low beam

For what it costs, I would suggest that you go to a mechanic and have it done properly. Most mechanics only charge about $10-$15, possibly even less if done as part of a service. I have tried the up against a wall method and found it really hard to get it done right.

Before adjusting i suggest that you pull the headlight out of the guard and check that all the locating grommets and piviots are still in place then spray a little oil on the adjusting screws to make them easier to turn.

also check the condition of the reflector, lens and globes to ensure there clean and working
