ive got a magfire point replacement in an 1800 with 009, no matter how i play with it, the dwell is 65 degrees.is this ok?if not how are they
adjusted?moving it closer or further from the dizzy cam does nothing.

This is a hard one franko...
When You adjust the points gap, You are changing the dwell angle... and in a normal kettering ignition system which was invented in the early part of
the last century....
When You adjust the gap of the points the dwell angle changes...

thanks auto bug, thats good for points but the magfire replaces the points with a sensor.it seems like its not adjustable , that is, the dwell stays the same regardless of the small positional changes you can make.??????????????
Ile go out on a limb (again) and say the dwell is fixed and is non adjustable on your system.

I agree that the dwell is not adjustable on Your system...
I wasn't sure what You were using...
Just set the timing and forget it...
