Head Cracks
PurpleT3 - August 26th, 2004 at 03:31 PM

Just a quick question. I have a couple of original stock 1600 dp heads. There are small cracks coming from the spark plug ports. Does this mean the heads are junk or are they still usable?

No. The easist way I've found is have the pug holes hellicoiled and the head faces machined and pitted, ie needle gun (jay gun) etc. This works aslong as the the valve seats dont have major cracks etc.

If in doubt ask the pros.

Valve seats look OK to my ingnorant eye. Before I cleaned them up and took them to a pro, I just wanted to check if it was worth it, looks like it is.

By the way, WTF

does pitting involve, what is a needle(jay) gun?

If you have found cracks in spark plug holes then there will be cracks in other areas as well....

JUNK them.... otherwise yr wasting money n time trying to repair them.
