alright well i'll be lowering the beetle soon with the front end from my cousin's beetle.. currently it is 1" from the ground, and running 125's
so that the wheels dont rub in the guards..
i want to actually want to be able to steer, and i have 165's on the front of my beetle.. so HOW low can i go before i get rubbing with 165's?? i
only want to go an inch or two lower in the front anyway.. but will i be able to do this even? without shortening the beam?
anyone out there?

I didnt know the front beam could be lowered by splines like that - only the rear... That's why lowering the rear is 'easy', but with the fron end, you have to opt for either, wld-in adjusters, dropped spindles or a big-ass bag of cement in the spare wheel well... no?
turning the front torsion bar works.. but weakens the bar significantly i believe.. the bar im getting is modified. but not shortened..
only needa know how low 165's can go
If you do the welding properly, it'll be ok - 'everyone' does it... sure, its not going to be as strong as a non cut and shut beam, but if
youlower ya bug, you aint exactly going to be baja bashing innnit?

the bar im getting has adjusters.. im sure i could get it shortened aswell.. just want to lower the front a little bit.. so was curious as to how low
a standard width beam can go with 165's on it without rubbing the guards
anyone?
i think my black bug is about 17cm off the ground at the front with 165s.
pretty sure it only scrapes if you go fast around a corner, or if the front is really loaded up. very close though.
I just measured it and it is actually 12.5cm high at the base of the brakets on the beam.
