I have just clocked 20,000kms on my beetle. When I start the car I have the word "service" appear under the KM reading. It stays on for a couple of minutes and then goes off. According to the handbook it doesn't need to be serviced until 30,000Km. Does anyone know what this means ? Has my car got dementia ?
Hahaha no darling you are supose to have a service at 15000kms first before the 30000kms:kiss
yeah yeah I did that .... I got it serviced not too long before Valla !!!!
My car has gone crazy !!!!!
That's why I don't like the car/computer hybrid. Not even the people with the $50 grand computers seem to be able to professionally service one of
these cars. That's from personal experience, and the reason I will only own oldtimers nowadays.
My Mum's 2001 Barina was just serviced and is doing the same thing.
Then, it could be that the mechanic did something nasty (or just plain stupid) during the 15K service to earn some more money off you?!? Do you trust
them?
Are they competent? Was their work guaranteed?
Go back to the dealer and they will hook up their gear and it can be reset or it will give a fault code for them to fix-they should be able to check it while you wait.
Check the controls handbook under controls and switches , it tells you how to re-set the service indicator light using the odometer and the clock controls.

has been fixed... just had to turn it off... probably something that was not done during the service....
Got the same problem in a current Kombi, you can ignore it and it goes away after a little while. I may check the handbook and see what it has to say. I prefer the old Beetle, none of the computerised extras to go wrong. There is soemthing to be said for the absolute simplicity of these cars.
