kombi steering wheel
Listy - January 5th, 2003 at 09:30 PM

just a thought....
my steering wheel looks like it might not make it in a few years time. Got a bit of a crack near the hub. What kind of steering wheel can be used to replace it? Does it have to be the size it is now (like a bu's steering wheel) or can it have a regular sized one off the shelf from any shop.

You can get "sports" steering wheel kits for kombis but (know doubt someone will have one and disagree with me) a kombi will be far too heavy on the steering with anything else. They come with big wheels for a reason. My stock steering wheel was sporty enough for me doing hillclimbs and supersprints.

are there any after market wheels that the same size ?

EMPI, Flat Four, Nardi. All very nice. Nice price too.
Happy New Year mate. Have you tried the seat yet?

fatboy - January 6th, 2003 at 09:30 PM

Hey - Good to hear from you mate.

Yeah the seat fits just perfect and was great to get 8 peopl in last week in Apollo bay.

I dont want to make you cry but I'm in the process of spray dying all my seats navy blue. I've done the front passenger and it looks awesome. - Time will tel if it stays that way :D but it is fairly cheap so I'm not bothered if it needs redoing 1 a year.

Hey fatboy, I'd love to hear how the spray dying works out. Are you doing it yourself?
I haven't been able to get a black middle seat for my microbus, and have been thinking about what can be done to change the grey seat I have to black.

Hi andy,

It looks really good so far (Far better than I expected).

I will post pictures in about a week after it has dried and been washed.

FB.
Good idea! Your seats certainly don't need recovering, so the colour change is perfect. How'd the bus go 8 up? Would've loved it?

65

Yeah it loved it - It didn't even feel the extra weight.
The biggest surprise on the cruize was getting up to 110kph on the GPS and staying there. 2nd hand KPH speedo showing ~112. (Not bad for $1500) Bus
Also managed to get from apollo bay to upwey on $15 of petrol @ ~80kph (Fantastic cruize back through the hills Thanks Kol;))

Total K's would be ~1000 I think my new bus just paid for itself in one trip :D

fatboy - January 7th, 2003 at 09:12 PM

ooh thats $1500 for the bus not the speedo :D (That was $25):thumb

Viponds Paints has a product called Tautflex if you follow the instructions you will be amazed how good it works i have sprayed many seats and trim with this product with excellent results. the most noticable quality of this product is the coverage where the pressure paks always require one more can than you bought and still look soso this product will have you looking for more stuff to spray................. :thumb:thumb

From memory Split Kombis havea tapered keyway shaft on them.

I have not seen any after market steering bosses for them either.

are we talking about split busses ??
