Country Buggy front end, I think!

Went to register the Country Buggy the other day and it failed the RWC because there was too much play in the king pins.

I needed parts and tried to salvage them off the spare front end I have but cant get it apart. Then I was thinking, how can I positivly tell if it is a genuine Coiuntry Buggy front end or a Beetle front end?

On a country buggy the spindle sits lower (towards the ground) and almost lines up with the lower link pin. It is easy to identify as the spindle wraps around the lower link pin.

On a beetle the spindle is mounted in between the two link pins.

They are visually different so if your spare "looks" the same then it is the right one.

Just picked up on the other thread about spindles.

Are the arms that carry the links pins the same as a beetle or Kombi?

I went to register my CB the other day and it failed the road worthy because the guy said it had too much play in the king pins. I didn't have the tools or know how to fix it so I eventually found an old VW mechanic who had all the gear and know how and I'm getting all the bushes sorted at the moment.

The odd thing is that are arms on one side seem to be from a beetle and the other a kombi (different size link pins).

The Arms aren't Kombi. The common thought on this is that the arms are just beetle arms that were reamed out by the factory to take bigger link pins. Rumour has it that some Country buggies had these large link pins and some didn't. Some Country buggies also had the large "Split bus" King Pins and some had smaller beetle sized king pins. Confusing isn't it.
