i want to fit aftermarket seats to a 75 kombi (front) any suggestions/hassles?

which seat comes down to personal preference,aftermarket seats can be a very expensive mistake if after a few weeks you find they are not as comfortable as you thought they were going to be. You could go to a large wreckers & sit in as many cars as you can,
I have a spare (unwanted)73 microbus & it has late Mazda 626 seats in & I think they are great but my wife doesn't, so there they stay. THE BIGGEST hassel with fitting alternative seats is that you can't go back to the original seats if you want because the Kombi runners (drivers side) are welded on & have to be destroyed to be removed. & the passenger side has welded on brackets which also have to be removed

Murray who drove the twincab to Apollo Bay (see Club Chat - Xmas Cruise) had Honda Prelude seats in, which were very comfortable.

I've also heard that Camira seats fit well, but I haven't seen them fitted. Helbus (Peter) has some non-standard seats in his kombi too, I think. It might pay to ask him what they are.

I'm currently chasing some Toyota Tercel front buckets, but I have no idea whether they will be low enough to suit a kombi yet. They have adjustable height front/rear, as well as adjustable side bolsters on the backrest, lumbar support, etc. I'll let you know how they fit if I find some.

Prelude seats are fantastic , I had them in my bus for a while. I have a set in my shed that I may be interested in selling

The seats in the Helbus are SAAS aftermarket. I just bolted them to the floor as I wanted them as low as possible. I also knocked the rear panel behind the seat back about 5cm for extra adjustment room.
Being non adjustable is no problem as Fleur is tall also, and they are fine.
SAAS recommend if you wish to fit them and retain slidung adjustment, to weld a couple of flat bars to the base runners of the original seat.
This will work, but the seat will sit up another 30mm or so, and I specifically wanted them as low as possible.

I have Mazda 626 (86 -87 only) seats in my baja. They look good, have heaps of features and fit nicely. They look sporty and have nice pockets on the back of them too. You can find a pair for around $80 but they have to be off a 86 or 87 model, otherwise they don't look so good.

thanks for the info. looks like i have to modify the tracks. was hopeing there were seats that could adapt to the existing tracks.

kombis are hard to modify seats to unless your a shortass(no offence) but beetles etc are easy to!!!
