I havent got a key for my Ghia door lock. I've got a perfect door lock that has a barrell number on it. Does anyone know of a locksmith that can
cut a key from a barrel number?
I heard that VW dealerships had some sort of device that had a set of metal blocks or something that when put together in a special way would allow
cutting of any VW key from the number????
Cheers
Steve
Have you considered reconfiguring the tumblers to suit a key?
KruisinKombi,
if You can do that, I'll send You down a box of door lock barrels, engine lid lock barrels and glovebox lock barrels.... Sounds great.....
Are You related in any way to 007 ????? or maybe maxwell smart, I mean 86 !!:o:o:o:o:bounce
"key locks without Keys!!!"
I dont see the problem with that.
About 15 years ago (In the UK) I had this done on a large antique safe I bought along with a Pub. I cant remember how much it cost - it couldn't
be a lot as I used to as tight as a nuns' whatsit.
Steve take it to the locksmith at Maroubra
I've used the little Chinese guy at the Locksmiths at Narwee before - he's pretty good. He made up a key to fit my Kombi's factory
petrol cap when none of the normal blanks fitted. Got him to make me spares of all my others too.
On the north side of the railway line, right next to the carpark at Narwee station.
Dave,
Is that Maroubra Locksmiths at 329 Marboubra Road?
Steve
It is quite normal to cut keys from numbers, its called cutting to code and is a better way of cutting keys than replicating them, That is if you
waffers have not worn too much, It is also very easy to re-pin locks once you have seen it done..you do need replacement waffers though. There is a
locksmith in Kensington, melbourne (Homeguard) who has a few coined blanks (where the VW is stamped in the key or thru it) Not sure how willing he is
to part with them but they are good locksmiths. There is also a shop in lithgo near sydney that had quite a few coined blanks....
cheers
most locksmiths can cut a key to suit a lock. I went to the local one with a lockable engine cover catch, he just used a machine to get the rite shape then made a key to suit. 15 mins and $15 later done.
Steve yeah thats the one but i should have added most of them SHOULD be able to match a lock // key
Hey FILL i dont think the guy in Narwee... is there anymore.
