Kikko's engine died today... very upset :cry:cry:cry. im wondering is it worth it to sell her off for parts and buy another beetle or simply buy another engine. if i were to buy another engine id want to get something thats going to last a while, and if i was buying another beetle itd have to be good condition.

What do you think? please respond i am in need of a car urgently and need the advice of professionals!!

You will have to weight the cost of how much the engine will cost to rebuild and the value of the car itself.
Also, if the car is in great condition(bodywise) I'd get the motor repaired as its easy to get mechanicals repaired than it is to do rusr repair etc etc...

The pics you posted, it seemed pretty good. I have sold good long blocks for like $300.
Can you do a motor swap your self??

If the rest of the car is in OK nick, I'd be looking at an engine. I have seen engines for sale here for under $500.

What I will be doing soon for my '60 is buying an engine thats running but probably questionable regarding its leftover life, then while its in, reconditioning the engine that comes out. That way, you have an engine in there getting you around while you have time to do a good engine.
