How Many Teeth?
Craig Paton - September 18th, 2004 at 09:27 AM

Can a/one tell me how many teeth has 6 volt ring gear got compared to 12v gear?
Also diameters of the different flywheels as well ! I believe the 6v flywheel is about 1/8th inch smaller in overall dia.
Figures would be muchly appreciated!!!

Cheers Craig.

Yes thats right the 6V flywheel is smaller about 1/8 inch

why do u need to know the teeth number you can usuall tell the difference just by looking. the 12V has a greater amount and are slightly closer together, if thats any help

Thanks Guys

The figures that I tracked down are 12v 10 7/8inch dia & 130 teeth
6v 10 3/4 inch dia and 119 teeth.

Just wanted to make sure the flywheel has 6v ring gear as I've sold it to a friend in New Zealand!

Thanks Craig.

another easy way to check see if it has an O Ring crank seal.... 95% of the 6 volt ones dont have this only a few came with this option on the very late 6 Volt cars and Kombis.
