Reduction boxes on swing axle
Secoh - September 26th, 2004 at 04:39 PM

I have a crazy plan, to fit a reduction box setup (complete incl gearbox) into my baja to lower the ratios. Anything I should know? is the split bus diff ratio higher than '68 bug to compensate? If so, can I fit the reduction boxes to my swing axle setup as it is? Can I fit the 4 stud hubs to the reduction box and brakes?

anything else that's going to muck up the idea?

help!

can't fit the 4 stud drums and the Reduction huns suck in beetles due to the way they pick up the rear end and make you loose traction very easy ...

Go IRS

You would be better of useing the whole back end of the Kombi and plonking the Beetle body n a front end onto the chassis.

hmmm not what I wanted to hear.... I don't really have the time or room to lift the body off to do an IRS conversion is the problem.

it might not be what you wanted to hear secoh, but speaking from experience, reduction boxes are not the best mod. go irs, 3 rib kombi box.
cheers,
rick
