I have just fitted a 1600 tp to my 65 bug, which was previously 6volt.
My question is where should I mount the regulator? The options are I suppose, on the fan shroud,on the firewall.Where is the original location?
If anyone could post a picture of theirs that would be great

The origional location on a 6v engine was on top of the generator.

mount it on the fire wall less vibration and will last longer. You will just have to make up a short loom for the new position.

I meant the original location on the 12v models.
Firewall seems the spot though

Oh on 12V models post 67 the regulator is under the back seat on the passergers side.

the loom splits there

Use some of those anchor nuts that are swaged into the sheet metal and you can use a 6mm bolt saves getting behind the back seat to do it up.
