my kombis battery goes almost dead flat when i havent driven her for a day or two how do i check if its the alternator or old battery the alternator
light turns of as soon as she starts nothing seems to be left on when all is stopped ??help .
Someone said put a tester on the battery when the motor is running, if its on 13 amps its the battery if below its the alternator
Sounds like a battery to me, is the fluid level ok?
If you can test the output thats the best way to tell...
thanx with one of those gauge thingies im going to buy tomorrow with the point on it with a current gauge?
sound's like the battery had dropped a cell if it's not holding charge.
next time you're not gonna run it for a day or two, disconnect the battery.
if the battery is flat when you reconnect it, the battery is the problem.
if when you connect the battery, there is a spark at the barrery connection, something is drawing current, and that is your problem.
if you have a multimeter you can use the 'ammeter' function to check any current draw, remove one terminal off the battery and place the ammeter in series ie: one lead on the battery post and the other lead on the cable clamp, any current showing is drain on the battery also termed as 'parasitic draw', prolly wouldnt want any more than 50 milliamp
have you got a stereo/cd player hooked up?
i remember having this problem and it was due to my cd player not actually turning off when i thought it was, as voltz said, parasitic draw.
i had to get it put on a switch so now it only draws current (turns on) when the switch is on.
i didnt think a cd player could draw that much power just by being on standby, but i guess it does!
Did you check that the terminals are clean?
