beetle suspension + CD-player = scratched CD's
killakornkobb - September 30th, 2004 at 07:38 PM

my CD's are getting hacked up whenever i hit a bump.. admittedly it is an old CD player.. and not on rubber mounts.

im also lowering the beetle hopfully next weekend.. so the ride will probably get a bit rougher! do rubber mounts help at all? and do newer CD players have anything to guard against the skipping/scratching in a carsh/pothole??

yeah the newer head decks have better skip protection. but its most likely that the springs in your head unit are weak and worn.

Hi

I never had a problem with my car and it ran 40 series tyres with hard suspension, maybe its the old style unit, mine was also mounted under the drivers seat which evens things out a bit.

Yep happened to me...
My suspension was stuffed so bad in the bug & I had a nice stereo.
A lack of suspension was causing all the problems.
Then I got konis shockees fitted in the front, new rubbers & torsion bar fixed, etc & never a scatched cd now.
My unit was in the glovebox
