Split gearbox

can I put in a 62 beetle box into the 67 split tunnel case? Does it have the same ratios and the same strength?

Hi Tom, best to get some adaprer plates and doo away with the reduction boxes,


U2U PMGbus, he manufactures them, all you need for the conversion

The ratios aren't good. Be Ok if you did away with the
reduction boxes with some sort of straight axle conversion (lowers
the rear end then you have to do the front too...)

If you want to keep it stockish with reduction boxes put
a 1500 beetle box in it. Lower 4th but higher R&P keeps
it about the same as stock gearbox. Stronger box too.
You have to flip the ring
and pinion (or you get 4 reverses - easy to do but).
attach the reduction boxes and attach the splitbus nosecone.
Then it goes straight in and is a 'stock' conversion.
