I finished rebuilding my 2000cc beasty and box. And its back in my 75 bus.

I have no adjustment left in my valve adjuster screws they are wound right in. This is what ive had done / done myself...

starting from the bottom of the block.
all new bearings
ground cams
new cyls
new pistons and rings
new heads - valves and spring were already fitted
new valve adjust screws and nute
old rocker gear
old pushrods and tubes
new rocker covers - not realated to problem

My thinking is since the cams have been reground the lobs arnt as high as they once were, but the new screws are wound all the way in!!! Change in head design? I dont know. More importantly how can i get my adjustment back with out pulling it out again....


Any help or ideas would be appreciated!!!

You will need to get yourself some longer push rods to gain rocker geometry. In any case at half valve lift you want the tappet screw and pushrod to be in a straight line. the push rods are too short causing you to have to screw the adjustment all the way in to get the right clearance. hope ya can get it sorted..

or remove the heads and place spacers ? alex

can you place a spacer under the rocker mounts ? like you see on swivel feet , they come with spacers as the ball section is in the way > um is this a easy way to fix the problem ? guys > girls

Ummmm i hav to think bloody rockers.... um if he spaced the rockers it would make it worse because his adjustment is already all the way in, so if he space the rockers is would cause the need for more adjustment.... i think thats right....
