hey all u guys with type 3's....i just fitted driver's side door to the car...wth the new repro seals i got from T3D....and they dont work
well....they seal really good...but the seals stick out the side and its really really hard to actually close the door.... so my question is, what
have you guys usd to seal your doors? where did u get it from and how well does it work?
thanks, jonno
I had OEM seals on my Wagon. you could cut a few mm of the back of the rubber with a sharp razor blade.... this will allow the seal to sit back on the door properly.
I got some WCM ones... trouble is... they were a little long...
So i fitted them and cut them like VW54.......
Made sure the join was at the bottom and glued them all round..
Welcome to the world of finding Type 3 stuff that fits!

Kermit's door seals are Brazilian..... the were too lond but the door closes real nice......
someone said that they wouldn't last 12mths...
been on the car now goin 3 yrs.... still like new...

glue the widest section down. or ring the shop and ask .
hey Tazz,
as I now have a new baby, where do you recommend for bits in brissie for a '71 type 3? Micks? or mail up from south? looking first for door seals
(front and rear hatch) and wanting to find popouts
as well
eventually
