Is that on a run or city

I live in inner Sydney

I get 6km/L :cry in city driving and 8.5 km/L when cruising the outback on holidays.

Mine is a 2L carburetted auto

Fun - yes

Ecomical - :(

I live in the country and this figure is from daily driving to work, I have a 15 km stretch of 100 km/h road until the outskirts of town and then its 70 - 60 km/h
the exhaust pipe is quite black yet the plugs are nice and clean
I really dont think it should be this heavy

What are you hoping for???

If you said you were getting 8km/L i would be real happy

Even though you are 15km out you are talking , what, total a 15 minute drive??

try sitting at 90km and see what difference that makes.

For what you have described, i really cant see it hitting 10's or above

I *thought* that perhaps 10 km/litre would be normal......BUT
not having owned one of these before I did not know what to expect, if this is about normal I can stop being so concerned :)
I travel 10 km's at approx 80-90 km/h then Im into town speed restrictions, maybe time to start looking for a 5 speed gearbox :jesus
thanks for your replies

There have been a few threads on fuel consumption:

Your 7km/litre is about 14.3litres/100km, which is near what I see in town. In the country I had around11litres/100km. Mine's a '74 carbied 1800. I also never drove at 100, more like 85-90km/h.
