Cutting into Notchback parcel shelf for speakers...

I've got a pair of 6x9 speakers i'd like to mount on the parcel shelf of my notchback..
My question is, if i go cutting holes in the parcel shelf of my car, am i going to be weakening the body structure at all?

I'm the first to admit taking to the car with a hacksaw makes me more than a little nervous, but if i used a speaker box it would impede my rear vision...

Don't think it would weaken it. But cutting 6"x9" holes in your car, that alone would put me off. I have my rear speakers mounted in the rear trims panels just above the arm rests. The sound probably isn't as good, but I didn't have to cut any metal out.

Yet you have a car with the top cut off it?
