some good fairy :sandrine like to tell me the specs for valve clearance on an 82 2.0 litre FI engine pls, I havent checked yet but have been told this
engine originally had hydraulic lifters but has been converted to the manually adjustable type ( no idea why )
regards
"should" have hydrulics
"some" people dont like hydraulic. Just a preference thing. I have them on mine.
Not really a performance thing. More a daily driver thing
Not rteally sure how you would tell the difference by looking. Feel?? Sound??
IF solids then .006
Thanks
If it has Hydraulic tappets you can tell by looking at them. With the tappet cover off look down the pushrod tube, where the pushrod makes contact you
will see a circlip on the lifter....that means it is hydraulic, manual lifters dont have the circlip.
To adjust Hyraulic lifters, set it on TDC for the cylinder, then screw the adjuster in until it makes contact with the valve, then screw it in another
2 turns then lock it up.
For manual lifters set it on TDC then adjust the screw so that there is 6 thou clearance
