non-standard seals
wezley - November 7th, 2004 at 09:33 AM

My kombi has two small non-opening sun-roofs above the drivers and passengers seats.

The seals for these are old and worn and prone to leaking. I would like to replace the seals, however I don't believe any seals come 'standard' for this type of window.

Does anyone know where I can get seals made up in the Melbourne area?

Cheers

Most likely the seals are a standard section rubber extrusion cut to length. I doubt they are shaped like door or boot seals. If you can remove them, take them to Clarke rubber and compare them with the seals they have in stock. Clarke have a fairly large range of automotive rubber seals. This way you only have to pay for the rubber an install it your self, just be careful not to break the glass.

Otherwise, call an automotive glazier like O'Brian's. They should be able to replace the seals for you.

Wez,

you have an old RAAF bus..... Let me say that we (the RAAF) are cheap, and I would bet money that the seal is a standard cross section, and size.
Trouble will be finding what window is that size.... :duh
Thats the hard bit. As the others have suggested, try Clark Rubber, after you have got the windows out of course.

Just take one to Clark rubber or look in the yellow pages under rubber, Get the right size and use super glue to join them
West Coast Metric use super glue to join there and they have no problems.
I have also used this in the past and it works great.
