Well its not been a good week. Chucked a sickey yesterday to use up some hours before I finish with my current job and got the sticky race rubber put on. But in mad dash to et the car away before the hail hit yesterday, I gave the bug a little stick in reverse up me steepish driveway. Something went bang!!!! Now I have 4 race meets in 12 days so am a little pisses off.

I have lost the reverse lock out, and the gear shift has gone really sloppy , thinking about it I have the following options

1- the bush has fallen out of the front tab in the tunnel (why would this suddenly happen under load?)
2- The tab has broken off the tunnel (again there is no load here?)
3- The rear shift coupler has broken in some way.
4- Something inside the gear box has gone.

Has anybody had anything like this happen before? Iam a bit pressed for time so was thinking I should just drop it off at the mechanics, but if its really simple I might try and fix it fri nite (as that’s when I have time free again)

Bix

at least pull the rear seat and the plate.

You will soon tell if it is the coupler or bushing.

The coupling you will then see. If bushing it will be sloppy off to the front.

Other wise, quick trip to the wreckers and wack another box in

Sounds like it might ne the hockey stick thing in the nose cone

take off the shifter and look where the shift rod goes into the bushing, is the metal hanger bit broken? i have this problem currently, had to cut out the section of tunnel, ground out the old one and am going to weld in a new one and the tunnel back together this weekend... crazy

I thought that might be the case, that the hanger snapped off, but i was trying to work out why, as i assume there is no load through the shift rod. I do run front and rear straps on the GB, and thought this would limit any movement.

I'm not exactly sure why it happens either, i think with mine the clearance between the rod and the support was not enough to fit the bushing in without putting stress on the metal!!

well by the sounds of it the bushes just let go and the shifet slipped out of the cup, so all fixed and ready to go racing :)

Is there a calender on the net somewhere that tracks all the events that are on in SE Qld? I would love to come and watch a few if I knew when they were on.

there is really only the cams list that will show all the events (there will be a new one out early next year).

The VWDCQ mag has a run down and will have a 2 month advance notice of all racing events that the club ppl would be interested in, it will inlude events from BSCC, HSCC, IWAC, NRDCC, GCTMSC, etc

but there is a khana cross on this sunday at willowbank park form about 930 to 330 for racing. as you going down champions way, its on your left just before QLD race way.

autocross also at willowbank park on the 21st from with about the same times.

the sprint meets are private sessions, but your welcome to come and have a look, wens morn 8 to 12 at QLD race way.
