g'day
how the hell do you remove the pedals from a beetle?
got me beat!
cheers
terry
they are bolted on to the floor by a plate which is connected to the shaft. should be under the carpet.
first take off the accelerator cable:
You will need to detatch the accelerator cable which is on the passenger side of the tunnel and has a cover on top of it which needs to be removed.
The accelerator cable lever ( the thing the cable hooks onto needs to be removed (i think it is held on by a circlip to the end of the shaft).
Clutch:
You'll have to loosen the clutch cable at the tranny to unhook the clutch cable which is next to the accelerator cable inside the tunnel.
The shaft is held in place by a U shaped plate on the drivers side of the tunnel with a plastic bush which will need to be removed.
after this is done you should be able to pull it out sideways.
ta very much! that's what I thought - mine must be seized - or the circlip is rusted into one piece with it!
much hammering is about to happen, and blowtorching, and other such fun stuff....
(it's my spare that I'm restoring so it's not attached to a car!)
just takes a bit of time and effort ... why do u need to remove them are they worn or need painting ???
gotta be replaced - several years of exposure to the weather, and a large amount of rust, so I thought I'd swap them with the ones on the car which are in better condition...
