Hi
Does anyone know if it's possible to fit spindle mount front wheels with the brake disc attached to the wheel on a street car
What would the rules be on that one?
sean
It wouldnt work, the wheel runs on the spindle instead of the disc.
I think the drag cars and street registered bugs that run spindle mounts in the US attach the brake disc to the actual wheel.
Will have to double check that i'm on the right track ie find more info
Just wondering what the law is concerning the wheels and if anyone else runs them
I know the setup you mean and I think strange make it not VW specific though. Would not be street legal and the wheels themselves would not be legal either. Would look awesome though! Go to the drags next time a big meet is on and have a look at prostock cars, they use these setups.
yea i've seen them on vw prostockers in the US and i particularly like the look of the solid wheel
Might ask an engineer to see what they say cause you can legally do it california and there's a registered 62 bug with them and he doesn't even have
front brakes
might have to move to the US just so i can run the wheels
Hey i'm in close contact with a few of the boys in the US.
The wheel only rotate's on a spindle alone. You knew that tho.
Running spindles on the street is definately asking for a big
"how ya going" accident to happen.
I can tell you that there is no way what so ever the law would let you run them!
The street cars you see in the US run a rear disc brake conversion aswell as a few parachute's hear and there.
I was going to use them on the dragcar but as it will see slight road use
"not that i should" i sorta need some stoping power.
Front spindle wheels aint cheap either dude!

Hey Sean, I heard your pretty handy with a lathe and welder, you could knock up your own set!.
And as for brakes, bugger that, when you put so much effort into going forwards in the first place why waste all that energy by slowing down? :beer
shame you can't do it these wheels look so cool
hey chris
how you doing
the 68 getting the biggest brakes i can find so i can stop quick, turn around and run away from those ricers:thumb
