are the carbs on a 2ltr the same as an 1800? i was sure that they were, but i'm sure someone here is surer,er.... more sure..er,....certain!

I'm fairly certain that they would be at least jetted differently, but one would work on the other.
Yes the carbs are the same design (Solex 34PDSIT-2 on the left and 34PDSIT-3 on the right). But there are some differences for later engines.
The 1800 engines have a 130 main jet in each, while the 2000 manuals have 132.5 main. 2000 autos have 135 mains.
1800s have 175 air correction jets, while 2000s have 160s. 1800s have 120 Pilot air jets, and 2000s have 130s.
2000 carbs have slightly different accelerator pumps, as they deliver a slightly smaller charge than 1800 pumps. 1800. The throttle valve gap in the
body is also different - 1800s have a 0.7mm gap and 2000s have 0.65mm.
But that's what the factory does. You could still swap them around and they would still 'work'...
