hey guys
i have recently had a new motor put in the bus. the motor has been sitting in a workshop and gathered quite a bit of paint dust and stuff, now when
the engine starts to heat up im getting pretty bad smells that are violating my senses.....
im just wondering whats the bast way to clean the engine, like could i use a gernie when its cold???? any addatives, where not to put water, etc
etc...
cheers
adam
maybe try a really powerfull steam cleaner or something
do you know anywhere in melbourne that do this???
na sorry mate u should be able to hire one from kennards or something maybe bunnings dont really know, but im sure that a powerfull steam gun would do
the job
The easy way is to cover the electrics, and carbs/ TB, with a plastic bag or two, and wash it down with a bit of detergent and water, hose it off, start it to dry it out -- works for me.
I think the main parts to cover up is the dizzy, carb/s, and generator. Everything else should be sweet. Give it a blast with some degreaser (the oil-based solvent kind, the water based type takes too long to break down the oil and muck) then hose off with water...
come on fellas were on water restrictions here!
water restrictions, i just used the hose for over an hour and got over 1/2 wheel barrow full off dirt of the car.
i just spray the motor with kero then wash off with presure cleaner or hose it comes up great
what about carbs?
cover up lectricals and carbs pretty well. our local car wash has a high pressure degreaser, which i spray on and in the nitty grit parts for a while.
not only is it degreaer, but its hot and high pressured. rinse with a high pressure water rinse ALWAYS
water is cleaned and recycled so its all good. got my engine shiny when ive never seen it shine before
